Dave Asprey Bulletproof - My Opinion
Overall, Dave Asprey is full of ideas and information. He has three main books all of which are jampacked with value. One thing im not fond of is his emphasis on mold and toxins of that kind. I personally feel there are more immideate problems with peoples lifestyle that once adressed will make a far more significant impact than alphatoxin or environmental mold exposure. But then again, After reflecting on dave aspreys books I did actually experience my worst health problems specifically neurological in nature that occurred when I moved into an apartment that was very noticeably full of black mold.
His nutrition information is top notch. Emphasis is on eating mostly ketogenic, organic & grassfed, avoiding foods that most people are intolerant to for example foods that contain lectins and other irritating nutrients such as gluten. But at the same time I believe he emphasizes unnecessary caution with some foods especially relating to their possible “mold infection”. For example, cheese and nuts he claims should be avoided due to tendency to being contaminated with mold toxins. In my experience many people tend to do just fine with these foods and have no adverse reactions where as many people are intolerant to cheese and nuts not because of mold but because the specific foods themselves contain something the persons digestive system doesn’t vibe right with. For example casein and lactose in cheese, or the complex fibers in nuts. Its highly individual. One may find cheese a superfood while another, a super toxin.
Many people critisize asprey for his claims that his coffee is toxin free. Saying that most coffee companies have already found ways to remove the mold toxins in coffee a long time ago. They say his “mold free” beans are nothing special. And there have been studies done on coffee beans showing that most coffee doesn’t contain “mycotoxins” like dave has claimed in the oast. Which is part of the huge amounts of criticism dave recives. People call him a scam artist because of this.
In my experience, most coffees definitely make me feel jittery & cortisol/adrenaline like. Yet daves bulletproof beans don’t make me feel that way at all. Even if I consume triple the amount of coffee, bulletproof beans for some reason make me feel sharp focused and happy without the jitters. My girlfriend who works at a high tier coffee & wine bistro full time as well as starbucks part time, said out of all the different coffees shes had at her work she has never felt as good as she feels drinking bulletproof coffee. I don’t lnow what it is honestly but we both can trll a huge difference in brain performance betwene regular coffee and bulletproof
Brain octane is an isolated extract of a single fatty acid extracted from coconut oil. C8. Where as coconut oil generlaly contains only 8% of its fat as MCT’s, daves Brian Octain & XCT Oils are 100% MCT and only the beneficial MCT’s with no lauric acid. Compared to other mcts which may have up to 4-6G per serving.
When I take brian octane I feel an insane difference in focus energy and productivity. People used to think I was on crack when I first started drinking it
The bottom line is, you don’t have to do any of the stuff dave asprey reccomends in order to be significantly happier, healthier or productive. But the fact is, most of his main suggestions are very effective for most people. These things work. His history with modafinil, testosterone & thyroid hormone really doesn’t matter when we consider the thousands of people doing the things he talks about and experiencing massive improvements in mental and physical performance.
The fact is thousands of people do the butter coffee, Ketogenic diet, avoid foods their intolerant to & various other things dave talks about even without every hearing of dave asprey. These things are extremely popular even outside of the Bulletproof circle. Keto is very popular in the mainstream and so is butter coffee. Nootropic type herbs and amino acids are also pretty popular. So is the negative effects of blue light, and the benefits of meditation and so on.
I honestly don’t understand why so many people leave hateful negative & usually childish comments about Dave Asprey on youtube comments. I think most of these people have just heard other people hating on him or “debunking” him, and so they decide to repeat all the things they heard on every dave asprey video they can find. I also definitely don’t think these people have even tried bulletproof products or tried the protocols dave talks about before leaving a ton of comments on youtube about how bad of a person dave is and how much they hate him
Whats really weird to me is if they don’t use his products and don’t like his content then why are they posting comments on so many of daves videos. I personally don’t watch videos from people that I strongly dislike. And I def don’t waste minutes of my day commenting about how much I dislike something on hour long videos that I strongly dislike.
I see hundreds of comments from people about how “narcissistic” dave is. I don’t know where people get that from. The guy is constantly giving valuable information backed by science & his own personal experience. He tells a lot of stories about his life & experiences to help give context to his recommendations. People act jealous of his success. They mention how he talks about spending thousands of dollars on biohacking himself as if that makes him some kind of snobby narcissist. But the reality is, he spent that tons of money experimentinf with tons of different things to find what works. And hes sharing all that he found from spending that money for free. Crying about him talking about having more money than you doesn’t make sense.
Overall, dave asprey is full of ideas and inspiration. Some of his ideas I don’t agree with, but his main suggestions relating to ketogenic dieting nootropics bulletproof coffee, etc are staples in many peoples routine around the world and have been proven to be extremely effective for giving people the reuslts they want day to day.
People who hate on apsrey seem to mostly be jealous of him for some reason. Mentioning his money & how he talks too much bout his experience. When in reality he talks about these things for an intended purpose.
The moldy coffee thing does deserve skepticism but to completely disregard everything dave says because of the moldy coffee controversy is just plain ignorant. And many people do notice a difference from his bulletproof beans. For what ever reason.
